City Dogs Rescue is currently operating on extremely low staff.
We hope to re-open in late March
with great dogs and puppies looking for forever, loving homes!
Additionally, our re-open date depends on getting further government approval.
Our founder, Brandi, recently accepted a position at the NIH
and is unable to perform any duties associated with the rescue until
the ethics committee approves that this rescue's goals and work does not conflict
with her day-to-day job in the government. We've been waiting for approval for two months,
so hopefully we'll be back to saving lives soon! We apologize for the inconvenience!

City Dogs Rescue is in immediate, URGENT need for dry kibble for puppies.
We can accept open bags as long as the food is still in good condition and not expired.

City Dogs Rescue (CDR) is a no-kill, cageless facility that serves to help place homeless dogs into forever, loving homes. We are staffed 24 hours a day, and our dogs, run, jump and play to their hearts content! We provide our dogs with all the love and care they need to succeed as great pets for new, loving owners. Our adoption process is professional and thorough, as we seek to match dogs and owners for optimal success.

Rufus is a 2 year old male Bloodhound. He's got a great personality and cracks everyone up! He's super friendly and gets along well with people and other dogs. He passed his cat test too! Rufus is about 80lbs of pure love, and his ears are silky soft. His adoption fee is $250 and includes his neutering operation, required vaccinations, a free vet visit after adoption, a training DVD and more! This sweetheart is looking for his Little Ann, and wonders if you know "Where the Red Fern Grows"?

We do not accept applications for adoption until all household members have visited. If you are not a DC resident, please carefully read our adoption area. We cannot adopt outside of the adoption area - no exceptions.
The D Litter are four 8 week old lab /golden retriever mix puppies. They are sweet, cuddly and smart! The puppies are up to date on their age-appropriate vaccinations. They are not yet housetrained and do not yet know basic commands - but we're sure they'll be quick to learn! They get along with other dogs, but have not yet been tested with cats or children. The adoption fee for one of the D litter puppies is $325 and includes their next round of vaccinations, spay or neuter operation when old enough, a free vet visit after adoption, training DVD and more. Please carefully review our adoption requirements for puppies and our very limited adoption area PRIOR to emailing us for setting up an adoption appointment.
Note: 2 additional siblings, Darla and Doodle are no longer in our rescue program.
